Why Ride in Tanzania

Iconic African landscapes

The snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro dominates the horizon on some rides, while the endless Serengeti plains stretch as far as the eye can see.

Exceptional wildlife encounters

You'll encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and if you're lucky, the Big Five. The rides are designed to take you deep into wildlife territory, with experienced guides who know how to safely navigate encounters.

Fast-paced safari riding

Tanzania is for confident, fit riders who love speed. Expect long stretches of trotting and cantering across open terrain, riding 4 to 6 hours on average.

Comfortable mobile camping

The first night you'll stay at the Polo Safari Club with proper amenities, then it's into the bush for the real adventure, with a mobile camp following your tracks across Tanzania's wilderness.

Kilimanjaro Elephant Safari, Tanzania - Globetrotting horse riding holidays

Robyn Strang

‘This ride surpassed all my expectations. My heart raced, my horse raced, and it was the most wonderful experience to ride with elephants in long green grass.  Then the scenery changed to clay pans and wide open spaces filled with giraffes, zebras, impalas and more elephants. With the setting sun behind us, we headed back for camp, horses’ heads down and strides long. We dismounted, the fabulous grooms took our horses, and I headed for a gin and tonic to breathe in the remarkable day we had shared, just to do it all again the next day. I have done 7 riding holidays and this was the best ride I have experienced! To anyone interested, just do it!’
